Photoshop Tutorial 2

Description

I thought of putting this photoshop tutorial that I finished 2 days ago. Also trying to help myself from becoming any more anxious. I hope ~fillyoffillys doesn't mind me using Earthy as an example ( and I'm SO sorry, I didn't know Earthy was a mare ^^; so here Earthy looks like a stallion...)

LET'S GET STARTED :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing:

1. Here's step one :star: [link] :star: This is after you've chosen your new canvas. ( You can easily click CTRL + N to open a new canvas)

2. Then you'll simply sketch your drawing :star: [link] :star: ( I strongly recommend you to sketch it with another color other than black )

3. Once you're done, make sure you have your layers with your. If you don't, on top click Window and check on Layers . Then you'll add a New Layer and rename that layer as "lineart" so you won't get confused. :star: [link] :star:

4. Make sure you're on layer "lineart" and adjust the thickness of your brush and pick the color black so you have a black lineart. Then you'll do your lineart on the sketch :star: [link] :star:

5. You can see that I've made a mistake on the horse's muzzle. When you make a mistake, you can simply click on the Eraser and erase your mistake. :star: [link] :star:

6. This is how it's going to look like once you're done with the lineart :star: [link] :star:

7. To get rid of the sketch, FIRST! click on the layer "Background" and pick the Eraser tool. Erase the sketch and you should end up with a clean and neat lineart. :star: [link] :star:

8. Here's my favorite part: the coloring :D You'll add a New Layer UNDER the Lineart layer. Rename that layer as "Basic Colors" so you don't get confused. :star: [link] :star:

9. You pick a color and your job is to simply color the lineart. You can go through the black lines without erasing them because the colors will always go UNDER the lineart. But try your best not to get out of the lines. (This is kindergarden stuff :3 ) But this is kind of tricky because you CANNOT use the Magic Wand. Since you're going to put the colors on a BLANK layer. Therefore the magic wand cannot close up anything. :star: [link] :star:

10. Now, when you make a coloring mistake, such as :star: [link] :star: You can simply click the Eraser tool and erase your mistake. :star: [link] :star:

11. As you continue to fill up everything, MAKE SURE that you also color every white part. Otherwise is going to be a blank spot and you'll have a lot of trouble. I suggest you pick a darker white color so you can distinguish the blank parts. :star: [link] :star:

12. This is how it should look like from Step 11 :star: [link] :star:

13. After you're done coloring everything--without shading and highlights :star: [link] :star: You need to duplicate the "Basic Color" layer. Rename the layer as "Shading and Highlights." I suggest you start with the shading first. For example, let's start with the horse's inner ear. *To add the shading, you FIRST need to change the Mode into Multiply. Make sure you have picked the basic color you're going to darken and the right brush. Look at how the inner ears look :star: [link] :star:

14. As you can see here :star: [link] :star: you notice the mistake I did when I moved the brush outside the horse's inner ear, coloring part of the horse's neck. If you make a similar mistake, you can simply pick the Eraser and erase your mistake.

15. After you're done with the shading, add highlights (if you want, this is optional ) and this is how mine looks :star: [link] :star: To blend the colors, I use the Smudge tool.

16. At last, if you're adding a background, you need to add another layer and put it BELOW every layer and above your Background (locked) layer. Make sure every spot is colored so that the background won't get into your "blank spots" (that's why I gave you the tip of coloring every white spot ) And this is how it should look with a clean background :star: [link] :star:

17. TIP: If you have a watermark, add a new layer on top of EVERY layer and then add your watermark or signature and you're done! :) :star: [link] :star:

I hope that helps!
